Breakfast: The Best Meal of the Day

If you’ve ever worked with me you KNOW I’m a breakfast nut! I love to eat breakfast (my favorite meal) and I encourage eating something within an hour of getting up in the morning.

Eating something after a longer period of time without food (aka- fasting overnight while sleeping) will jump start your metabolism, cognition AND your digestive system.

Kiddos who experience constipation will benefit from eating breakfast to get their digestive juices flowing.  Just a few bites & sips will instruct your digestive system to turn on the gastrocolic reflex, prompting a bowel movement.

Snack idea: Frozen Banana Bites


  • 1 large banana, sliced into circles about ¼ in. thick
  • Some sort of spread—peanut butter, chocolate hummus, Nutella, strawberry cream cheese 


  • Line up banana slices on a baking tray lined with parchment paper
  • Spread about ½ tsp of spread on each banana slice and top with another banana slice
  • Put the tray in the freezer for at least ½ hr and eat your banana bites once frozen.  

Other ideas- roll the sandwiched banana bites in crushed graham crackers, sprinkles or coconut for additional flavor!
