Messy Eaters? No Problem!

Babies and toddlers can be such messy eaters….and that’s good!

Remember how I’m always talking about exposures to foods in a variety of ways for picky eaters?  When little ones smear food in their hair, miss their mouth with the spoon and get it on their cheeks, mush it all around the tray, they’re exploring foods with all their senses.

The more they learn about food and how to manipulate it, the more comfortable they are exploring new foods.

Too bothered by the mess?? Pop your kiddo in a dry tub or outside in an empty kiddie pool with a container of yogurt or applesauce or other messy food and let them explore away.  When they’re done, wash them down—bath time done!

Snack Idea: Chocolate Milkshake (my kids’ favorite!)

  • 1 c. milk of choice
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter or other nut butter
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of Ovaltine powder
  • Handful of ice blocks

  • Whiz it all together in a blender and enjoy! Feel free to add berries to make it PB&J or add a banana
