Q: Any Ideas To Get My Kid Cooking?

A: Absolutely!

Cooking with your kiddo is not only fun, it’s a great way to expose them to foods and ingredients that they may not experience otherwise.  Cooking gives them the opportunity to learn what makes bread rise, how to prepare a kiwi & why it’s important to read the recipe through before starting.

When Cooking Together, Keep It Light

Keeping it light means no pressure to eat the final product and losing the impulse to stress how “healthy” (or “unhealthy”) the recipe is. Have fun cooking with your kiddo by choosing a favorite recipe (like the Jordan Marsh Blueberry Recipe here) and giving them lots of jobs–measuring, cracking eggs, stirring, pouring.

Is there a reason for cooking? A new baby in the neighborhood? A holiday or party coming up? Going to a BBQ? Having a specific reason to get in the kitchen helps with choosing what to cook.

Cooking Resources for Kids

A few months back, I wrote about some of my favorite resources & cookbooks for cooking with kids.

Check them out and get cooking. And don’t forget that Food Is Connection.

Snack Idea:

Blueberry muffins

(Fun Fact: My mom worked for Jordan Marsh for about 30 years)
